A couple of months ago–before the semester ended–we decided to rent a cabin in Tahoe and spend one out of our three weeks we get of winter break just having fun int he snow and building memories with some friends.  After going through a lot of planning, that is, arguing with the girls (Heather, Courtney, and Morgan) about who gets the bigger bed, we decided to use one of my friend’s dad’s (Sean’s dad) time share instead of renting a “cabin,” per se.  The school  semester ends at Simpson and it is time for our awesome snowy-icy-wet adventure to begin.

After checking out of our dorm rooms we head over to Mitchell’s parents’ house for a day full of…nothing.  We needed to check out on Saturday, or else we could have gotten fined $50.  We were planning on leaving Sunday morning to Jordan England’s home (garage for extra useless cars), which is in Sacramento, Calif.  After meeting all the England’s, and seeing the poopy face that Tony had–he was sick–we left Sacramento with our final destination in our mind, Tahoe.

As we approched the city, the roads started to get wet and the snow was starting to show itself.  After racing behind Sean’s abnouxious driving in the now wet roads we got to a point where the roads were competely covered in beautiful, glow-y snow.  I was riding shotgun in Josh’s truck.  The trip took longer than expected and I decided to read the book which I had brought with me to read before falling to sleep in Tahoe, The Shack. I  currently on page 128/248 and this book is amazing–I will write a post about this book later when I finish reading it.

As we arrive Tahoe, the weather is “amazing,” according to the Wyomigans.  I am from SAN DIEGO, this IS NOT amazing weather.  i was freezing my brains off.  The first night was good and will keep you guys updated with whatever interesting things we do.  come back and read the next couple of days.

Funny Stuff!

04Nov08

I was walking through the Simpson University parking lot and saw this on the way to my class. For those of you who attend Simpson University you might have an idea to whom this vehicle belongs to, to whose of you who don’t attend SU, then you are missing out on the crazy things that happen here.

is this funny or what?

What did Jesus do for us?  He died for us.
Most of the time when we, as “Christians”, think of the great sacrifice Jesus did for us, we often think of him dying.  That’s it.  We ought to know that was not it.  There is beauty in that sacrifice.  Jesus, after the third day of his crucifixion, presented himself to his apostles and walked next to people that gave the order to crucify him.  Instead of coming back in a rage for revenge, he came back and noticed the great need we had to be forgiven.  This is one of the beauties in this great tragedy.  It does not end at the cross, in fact, his grace and forgiveness never ends.  This was just a little bit of the things I was pondering on this week.  There is always a beauty in tragedy when God is involved.  We often fail to see this awesome beauty because were really focus on what the tragedy has done.  We have to open our eyes, and look for the beauty.

Repentance

21Oct08

It is impossible to repent without getting up and doing something.  Unlike most people’s beliefs repentance is not about feeling ashamed and regret.  Repentance is about getting up, stopping your bad-doings, and doing what Jesus would have done.  By definition, repent is to stop, turn around, and go in the other direction.  “Repentance is an active and hopeful way of life!” To repent, is to surmise that we are going the wrong way.  This is either the most bewildering or the most genuine refreshing fact about repentance.  Failure is the beginning of repentance and, repentance is the beginning of being a Jesus follower, a Christian.  In fact Christianity is all based upon the fact that humans are not perfect and constantly fail.  Jesus followers have no longer to pretend that they are perfect.  Repentance has substituted that with forgiveness.

Hey guys, so school is about to start and I am really excited for this year. As many of you know i switched my major from Business Administration to Pastoral Studies. Big change huh?
